The Ken Goy Memorial Charity Ride

The Ken Goy memorial charity ride

The club is holding a ride in memory of Ken on 22nd September. This will be an annual event and will raise funds for the local hospital cancer unit.

This year’s route is over 62 miles from the Henhurst Club through Twycross and finishing back at the Henhurst Club, starting at 10am. There will be an entry charge of £5 but free tea coffee and cakes will be provided at the finish. Just over half way through the route there are cafes at Twycross if any rider decides on a café stop.

Ken was a founder member of the Mercia back in 1965 and throughout his life remained a member. Ken was the complete club cyclist, he raced, toured, marshalled, and helped the club whenever help was needed.

The route will be added to the Club’s web site and printed sheets will be available at the signing on.

Ken was well looked after by the local hospital and we think that it is appropriate that we should mark this by trying to raise funds for them. The drinks and cakes have been sponsored so every entry fee paid will go to the charity without deduction.

Please try to support the club’s effort to raise funds for a very needy local cause and at the same time join us in remembering Ken who supported the Mercia in any way possible for a period of 53 years.
