Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles Bulletin 15.03.20

This mornings rides were well supported in view of the weather. There was very little rain during my 50K , although there was some standing water. Thanks to the baking team for the superb cakes again.
In view of the ever changing situation with regards to the Corona virus we have taken the decision to cancel the trophy presentation planned for next Saturday. We felt that the risk that someone attending becoming infected at our event was a situation that we should avoid.
The first club 5 is scheduled for 31st March and at the moment will go ahead subject to any instruction that we may receive form the  national governing body.
I should collect the engraved trophies from the engraver this week and will arrange delivery and or collection with the winners who were:
Jason Seabridge, fastest 25 : Jason started that 2019 season but was sidelined early on with his injury, like the terminator he will be back!
Anne Staley: ladies TT BAR and ladies club runs, it is amazing that Anne manages to ride events amongst all the coaching and junior instruction that she does.
Toby Elliot: schoolboy clubruns, it is great to see Toby out on Sundays, he brings a big reduction in our average age.
Dan Ward: juvenile cyclo cross champion: another very good season for Dan
Julie Tipper : Ladies cyclo cross champion, well done Julie in achieving a very high placing in the league even though you had to miss a couple of the later rounds.
Liam Mewis : junior hillclimb champion, junior track champion, winner of the handicap league in the evening club events, junior 25 mile champion, 3rd in the 25 mile championships, junior club runs : a very good season for Liam, constantly improving, the handicapper has been informed
Jeff Slinn : 2nd in the 25 mile championship, a good ride on a hard morning
Steve Ingram : Ist on handicap in the 25 championship, most improved rider, a very good season for Steve with a just reward for all the hard work that he put in.
Dan Partington : senior hillclimb and track champion, all the training on the velodrome stands Dan in good stead for the sprint up the hill
Ian Hill : the 24 hour trophy, 293 miles, part of his Paris Brest Paris ride , well done Ian, a great ride.
Phil Tolley  : the annual mileage trophy, 16,300 miles, a fantastic year for Phil.
Ian Jarvis : senior club runs, Ian is a stalwart supporter of the the Sunday club runs and looks out for all the riders
Adrian Waters : senior cyclo cross champion, well done again in the wettest winter on record
Zac Machin : junior cyclo cross and junior road race champion, well done Zac with a very consistent season. Zac is moving to a sponsored race team for 2020 and we wish him all the best
Sam Parker : second in the junior cyclo cross championship, well done Sam who is a talent for the future
Lee Aston: winner club evening 10s on actual time and also the veterans on standard, great consistent rides from Lee
Ben Startin: years fastest 50 and 100 : 25, 50 and 100 mile champion, best all rounder and veterans best all rounder, a great season for Ben with excellent performances on the longer distance time trials on some very hard days.
Dave Clarke : 2nd in the hillclimb championship and Clubman of the Year. Clubman of the year is awarded for services to the club. For the 3rd year running Dave has provided excellent first class coaching to those of us who attend the turbo sessions. The sessions are designed by Dave to achieve race fitness by the end of March with subtle changes each week requiring the type of planning that a professional racer has experience of, his experience has been an asset to all who take part.
I will contact the trophy winners when I have the trophies  and replicas back from the engraver,
