Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles Report 29.05.19

Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles report 29.05.19.

The latest round of the British Cycling Youth National Circuit Road Race Series took place at the Hog Hill circuit, Lee Valley, Ilford. The purpose built 2km long course has a good range of bends, steep hills and sweeping descents to test all standards of riders. Riding in the Under 14 class was Zak Machin of Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles who was looking to maintain his this seasons excellent form. Despite the 04.30am start to get to the circuit Machin showed that he was ready for the challenge and was always with the leading riders, who left the majority of the 61 riders struggling to keep up. After an hours hard racing Machin crossed the finishing line in a fine 8th place behind series leader Jed Smithson of WORX Factory Racing. The good ride kept the young rider in the top ten in the championship.

Zak Machin has also maintained his good form at the Mallory Park Youth Circuit races where in the latest round he finished in 3rd place behind Ryan Williams of Peak RC. The result was good enough to keep him in second place in the championship.

Mercia’s evening Time Trial held over 10 miles on the Anslow circuit was again blighted by a strong gusty wind which hit the riders from all directions and keeping the finishing times above par. Quickest again was Mercia’s Lee Aston in the time of 24:16 with Erik Voronovich in 25.22 (1st on handicap). Other riders times were as follows and all Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles. Rob Gower 25.29 (2nd on Handicap) Ben Startin 26.08, Jeff Slinn 27.02 (3rd on handicap). Keith Staley 28:35, Tony Marlow 29:38, Adrian Waters 33.10 & at one lap, David Peters 19:59.
