Zak Machin Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles Under 14 rider’s fine start to the season continues. He took part in the highly regarded Castle Comb Easter Classic race held at the Wiltshire racing circuit. The event drew in the best riders from around the country and far from being over awed Machin took the race to the rest of the field. Always in the leading group and pushing the pace along throughout. At the end after using a lot of energy, he was beaten into 4th place in a very close finish by Jed Smithson of WORX Factory Racing. A very satisfying result for this promising young rider in a competitive field of 33 riders

Machin’s regular Tuesday event is the Mallory Park Youth Road Race League, the latest event, Round 3, Machin dominated throughout and crossed the line in 1st place and took the overall lead in the season long competition. A very satisfying few days racing.

The Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles club evening Time Trial held over 10 miles on the Anslow circuit took place in the best conditions of this season so far which reflected the 18 riders taking part. The fastest time of 23:23. was posted by Lee Aston of Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles. Haydn Smedley of DTC/Mercia was 2nd in 24:18. And David Clarke of Interbike 3rd in 24:38 Other riders times were as follows and all Mercia unless noted otherwise. Andy Wray 24:40, Rob Gower 24:42, Tom Comb 25:49, Jeff Slinn 26:33, Ben Lambert (unattached) 26:41, Simon Parker 27:32, Liam Mewis (Youth) 28:01, Keith Staley 28:45, John Hulse 29:56, Dave Baines 30:55, Ed Clamp MVH 31:05, Adrian Waters 31:56 & at one lap, Steve Ingram 16:09, David Peters 19:14.
