Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles report 04.05.18
The BDCA recently held a 10 mile Time Trial on the A50 from Etwall. Several Mercia
CC-Lloyds Cycles Veteran riders took part the best of these was Jason Seabridge
who finished 12th (4th BDCA rider) in the time of 20:57. Robert Gower took an
excellent 28th place with a time of 23:01. He was closely followed by team mate

time of 20minutes.
Mercia’s younger riders have been busy with circuit road races. Round 3 of the
Mallory Park Youth Series consisted of a points race and Daniel Ward dominated
throughout. He crossed the line in 1st place 5 laps out of 6 and took the chequered
flag. He was closely followed by team mate and fast improving Sam Parker, who can
be well pleased with his fine rd place. The win gave Dan the overall lead in the
Championship.
Round 4 of the Mallory Youth Series saw a change of venue, the Leicester New
College track. Daniel was again fighting for the lead and looking to retain his
yellow jersey for the overall lead when disaster struck and his chain came off,
with assistance he was able to continue but by this time he was well behind the
last placed rider. Undeterred he made a terrific effort to catch up which he
eventually did but the effort took its toll and he didn’t have enough energy
left to win. He did take 3rd place which was thoroughly deserved after such a big
effort. Sam Parker again rode very well and took a solid 5th place. The winner and
new overall leader was George Cooper of Sherwood Pines Cycles Forme but only
2 points separate the top three riders. At the same venue Zak Machin rode in the
U14 category where he finished in 12th place behind winner Rory Knowles of Team
MI Racing Academy.

the popular Dalby Forest course. Christian Aucote competed in the Expert Male
class where he finished in 30th place. The winner was Ollie Dawson of Border City
Wheelers.
At Round 2 of the Midlands MTB Series held at Parkwell Springs in Sheffield,
Daniel Ward rode to a fine second place in the Under 10 Category just unable to
hold back the winner Jacob Steed of Bolsover & District CC.
