Mercia Report 04-12-11
Mercia HBM riders compete in National Trophy Cyclo Cross at DerbyDerby hosted the 4th round of the National Trophy series at the Moorways Leisure Centre on a very windy day which saw the course dry out quickly, which made for some fast racing through out the day.
In the under 12s Elliott Waters (Plan B) rode well to finish in 15th place in a large field of 50 riders.
The under14s race Joshua Waters rode well in a hotly contested race to finish in 8th place (he is currently in 7th place overall with 2 more of the National Trophy races to go). His usual rival William Gascoyne (Heanor Clarion) was third. The winner was again Daniel Tullet (Hargrove’s Cycles).
In the senior race Christian Aucote (Mercia HBM CC) was a late arrival at the start of the race and had to battle hard from the back of the field to finish in 58th place. The winner was again the Belgian rider Jelle Brachman (Van de Vurst Cycling Team).
