David Clarke finishes 4th in Blackburn Grand Prix Circuit Race. Simon Smith is the fastest Mercia HBM rider in 25-mile time trial.David Clarke’s (Pendragon Le Col Colnago) good form continues with a 4th place in the Blackburn Grand Prix Circuit Race, despite the evening race being run in wet conditions. The race was over 1 hour’s duration. Clarke & team mate Steve Lampier were active at the front of the main bunch but failed to catch the leading three riders. The winner was Ed Clancy MBE (Motorpoint Marshall’s Pasta). Lampier finished in 17th place.
Three Mercia HBM riders competed in North Notts Olympics 25 mile evening time trial at Long Bennington. The fastest was Simon Smith in 57 21, Noel Adams timed 58 19 including time lost when he had to stop & put his chain back on, & Jack Hugill 59 45. Matt Botrill (I ride.co.uk) was the only rider to average 30 mph with a time of 49 51.
Fourteen riders rode in the club’s handicapped 10-mile time trial on the Anslow circuit on a fine evening weather wise. David Clarke was the fastest as usual. The riders & times are: David Clarke 22 12, Sean Sleigh 23 57, Daniel Partington 25 16, Simon Parker 25 36, Ben Startin 26 22, Jeff. Lea 26 23, Mick Abbott 26 47, Jeff Slinn 27 08, Craig Tucker 27 12, Tony Marlow 28 10, Jim Stewart 28 51, Nick Chapman (South Derbyshire Runners) 29 33, Graham Dingley 30 08. & At 1 lap Dave Peters 18 24. The first three on handicap were Mick Abbott 21 41, Jeff Lea 22 08, & Tony Marlow 22 10.
