Tony Marlow Wins the Roller Racing Handicap Trophy & David Clarke’s first race of 2010 is the Tour of LibyaThe final night of Roller Racing at the clubroom started off with the first heat over 500 metres between Tony Marlow & Peter Rose. Tony timed 19.66 seconds to Peter’s 20.73 seconds. The second heat was between Kieran Patterson & James Allen. James went through in 19.91 seconds to Kieran’s 21.41 seconds. The 3rd heat was between the winners of heats 1 & 2. Tony with a bigger handicap beat James 19.84 seconds to James 20.78 seconds. The final was between new member Ewan Davidson & Tony Marlow, a close race saw Tony win in 19.68 seconds to Ewans 20.02 To win the Roller Racing Handicap Trophy for the first time.
The 2nd in a series of races for all ages at Darley Moor promoted by Ashfield Road Club saw Simon Parker placed in the top twenty finishers in the 3rd & 4th category race with 100 starters run over 55 kilometres. The winner was Rodney Rouse(Go Sports Spex Racing Team).
David Clarke started off 2010 by riding the Tour of Libya based in Tripoli with his Pendragon Le col Colnalgo team mates including Kieran Frend from Barton under Needwood. On stage one Clarke was 8th. Stage 2 saw Clarke finish 14th with Frend 37th. On stage 3 Frend was 12th & Clarke 12th. Neither of them were placed in stage 4. In the final stage Clarke was 17th & Frend was 27th. Overall David Clarke was 8th & Kieran Frend 28th.
The Mercia HBM Cycling Club start their evening time trials. On Tuesdays meet at the Shobnall Sports & Social Club at 6 15 pm.
