Mercia Report 21-03-2010

The first in a series of races for all ages at Darley Moor promoted by Ashfield Road Club was well supported by local cyclists.

In the 3rd & 4th category race with 100 starters run over 55 kilometres Kevin Potter (Plan B Racing Club) finished in 15th place, Simon Parker finished at the head of the main bunch with Phil Machin just ahead. Christian Aucote, Alistair Staley (Plan B RC) & Keith Staley finished the race a lap down. The winner was Gregg Newton from Manchester riding for the Will’s Wheels Cycling Club.

In the Burton & District Cycling Alliance 2 up 25-mile time trial promoted by Colville Wheelers on the Griffydam circuit Phil Machin & Matt Simons finished in 15th place out of the 35 teams with a time of 1hr 5 minutes 57 seconds on the undulating course. The winners were Matt Bottrill & James Cambridge (I Ride.co.uk Cycling Club) in 55 minutes 16 seconds.
