Final Notts & Derby League Cyclo Cross for this Season & Mercia HBM riders support Plan B Reliability TrialThis season's final Notts & Derby League Cyclo Cross was held at Thornbridge Outdoors Education Centre near Great Longstone & promoted by Ashfield RC. The Waters family again competed. In the under 12’s Joshua finished a disappointing 6th due to feeling under the weather with a sore throat. Overall in the 14 races he missed out on second place by only 0.02 points. 10 year old Bailey finished 9th in the race & 6th overall. William Gascoyne (Heanor Clarion) was first in the race & first overall.
In the under 10’s Elliot was 9th & 5th overall. First in the race & first overall was John Webster (Matlock CC).
In the seniors' race Justin & Adrian were feeling lack lustre & finished a disappointing 65th & 71st respectively. Over the series there were 173 competitors racing in the senior category. Justin was 73rd & Adrian 99th. Adrian finished 3rd in the 60 years age group. The winner of the final race was Jamie Harris (Cult Racing) The overall winner was again Ben Eddy (Empella Cyclo Cross).
Mercia HBM riders supported Plan B’s Reliability Trials held at the National Forestry Centre at Rosliston. The 50km circuit went through Drakelow & Catton Park to Whittington, Then through Fisherwick, Elford, Harlaston & Clifton Campville to No man’s Heath. The return to Rosliston was then via Chilcote, Netherseal, Grangewood & Botany Bay.
Ben Startin did 2 laps to complete the 100km in 4 hrs 5 minutes.
Those completing 1 lap within 2 hours were: Phil Machin, Gary Bush, Phil Jones, Keith Staley, Kieron Patterson, Simon Parker, Adrian, Justin & Joshua Waters. Peter Rose completed it in 2 hours 50 minutes.
