Local Burton riders compete in the second of a series of three races at Darley Moor Sports Centre


In the second of a series of three races at Darley Moor Sports Centre, Burton cyclists again competed in the various age groups. Mercia HBM rider Simon Parker finished the 50km race in the main bunch for 3rd & 4th category seniors. Kevin Potter (Plan B Racing) finished 6th & Alistair Staley (also Plan B Racing) finished in the top 20. In the race for Elite, 1st & 2nd riders also over 50 kilometres Daniel Davies (Plan B Racing) finished 5th.

The races for the younger riders under 12 years old over 12 kilometres saw the Waters brothers competing. The best placed was Elliott in the under 8's out sprinting James Luscombe (Ashfield RC) for 2nd place. The winner was Harry Morley (Matlock CC). In the under 10's Bailey finished 3rd (one place lower than the previous week). The under 12's race saw Joshua Waters break away from the main bunch with nine other riders, who stayed away till the finish where he finished 5th in the sprint for the finishing line.

On Tuesday evenings The Mercia HBM have started their time trials meeting at the Shobnal Sports & Social Club at 6 30 pm.
