Final Cyclo Cross Events for this seasonRound six was the final event of the National Cyclo Cross Championships held at Markeaton Park Derby. Organised by Derby Mercury RC. There was a special race for the under 12's with 68 riders competing in this national event. Joshua Waters finished 29th & Bailey Waters 33rd. Joshua was doing well until he had to stop & remove mud & grass that was clogging up his chain set. Bailey was at a big disadvantage being only 8 years old. Arthur Green From Matlock showed what a good future he has in Cyclo Cross by winning this National event. The Waters brothers were not deterred from further racing by taking part in the 5 man relay race with 6 year old Elliot plus another boy & girl joining them to finish 5th.
Race no 16 was the last of the Notts & Derby Cyclo Cross league events for this season & was held at Gravelly Hollow near Calverton in Nottinghamshire & organised by Sherwood Cycling Club. In the under 12's Joshua was 5th. Arthur Green was again the winner. The under 10's race with a field of 43 riders saw Bailey finish an excellent 3rd & Elliott did well to finish 16th. The promoting club's Scott Hookaway was again the winner.
The final positions in the Notts & Derby Cyclo Cross League were as follows
In the Under 12's Joshua finished 4th overall. 1st was Arthur Green a total of 30 riders competed. In the under 10's Bailey was 3rd & Elliot 10th. 1st was Scott Hookaway 68 riders competed. Their father Justin finished 89th in the seniors out of 151 riders. Ben Eedy (South Pennine RC) was again first overall.
