Christmas & New Year Notts & Derby League Cyclo CrossThe Waters family continued cyclo cross racing over the Christmas & New year holiday in the Notts & Derby Cyclo Cross League. The first Races were at Allestree Park, organised by Belper Bicycle Club. A very muddy course saw Joshua Waters overcome the conditions to finish an excellent 3rd just in front of Charlotte Broughton in the under 12's race. Charlotte had the misfortune to fall off on the last lap. The winner was William Gascoyne (Heanor Clarion. In the under 10's Bailey went one better finishing 2nd, his best placing yet in cyclo cross racing, his younger brother Elliot finished 11th out of 30 contestants. Scott Hookaway (Sherwood CC) was first over the finishing line. Father Justin suffering from a heavy cold, plugged away in the mud to finish 70th out of 82 riders in the Senior race won by Scott Thwaites (Cross Trax).
The first cyclo cross in 2009 was the Matlock CC races held at Thornbridge Education Centre near Great Longstone. Joshua was 7th in the under 12's. Arthur Green from the promoting club was again the winner. In the under 10's Bailey (on his new bicycle) finished 3rd. Elliot finished in 13th place out of 36 riders. Scott Hookaway was the winner.
