Mercia Report 21-12-08

The Midland Cyclo Cross Championships were incorporated in the Notts & Derby Cyclo Cross League races held at Thornbridge Education Centre near Bakewell. Two of the Waters brothers competed in the under 12's (including riders under 10 years of age). It was a very cold & frosty day making racing very hard. Joshua Waters finished 8th & his 8 year old brother Elliot finished 27th out of 38 finishers. Matlock Cycling Club's Arthur Green was the winner.

Round 13 of the Notts & Derby League was held in Derby at Alvaston Park the following week, in very wet conditions with mud up to the riders knees in some parts of the course. In the under 12's Joshua was 4th. Arthur Green was again the winner. In the under 10's Bailey was 7th, still not fully recovered from his recent cold. Scot Hookaway (Sherwood CC) was the winner.

Their father Justin finished 49th out of 60 finishers in the Senior race. He was rewarded with a Christmas pudding for his efforts in the mud bath of a course. Ben Eedy (South Pennine RC) was the winner.
