David Clarke wins his first Road Race since breaking his wrist in the tour of Hungary. Ian Hill organises Tourist Trial & Peter Rose qualifies in veterans' time trial competion
David Clarke (Team Lacuna) won his first road race since breaking his wrist in the Tour of Hungary in June. The race was Velo Club Meudon's Surrey League race held at Elstree over 113 kilometres out sprinting Paul Holdsworth (Hounslow & District Wheelers) & Paul Robertson (Sportstest co.uk)
Mercia HBM's Ian Hill organised a 107 kilometre tourist trial along the Camellia & Canal Bridges Route starting & finishing at Moira village Hall. Over 50 riders started & finished the trial. The riders went through Clifton Campville, Alvecote, Whatley & Hurley Common to Whitacre Garden Centre for refreshments, then onto Baxterley, Upton & Dadlington, for another stop at at Sutton Wharf Café. The final 35 kilometres were through Sutton Cheney, Congerstone, Twycross, Orton on the Hill & Austrey to No Man's Heath, then through Chilcote , Netherseal & Donisthorpe to finish back at Moira. Burton Cyclists Jim Stewart, Irvine Wright & Glen Corcoran all finished within 5 hours.
Peter Rose completed his four qualifying time trials in the 60 to 65 age group in the Birmingham & Midlands Veterans Time Trial Association's competion with another sub thirty minutes ride in the final 10 mile race in 29 59, held at Salford Priors in Warwickshire. The winner was Alistair McChesney (Solihull CC) in 20 55.
The Mercia HBM CC is promoting a Cyclo Cross at the National Forestry Centre at Rosliston this coming Sunday the 28th September The first race starts at 10 00. There are races for all ages & you can enter on the day.
