Noel Adams does a personal best in 12hr time trial & the Waters Brothers compete in races at Solihull
Noel Adams, in his quest to qualify again for the British Best All Rounder competion, did a personal best by 10 miles in the Iknield Road Club's 12 hour event held near Biggleswade in Bedfordshire, recording 238.86 miles to finish in sixth place. The winner was Robert Gimour ( Hounslow & District CC ) with 259.35 miles. Noel has to ride a 50 mile time trial to complete the three distances.
The Waters Brothers, Joshua & Bailey, competed in the Solihull Cycling Club's road races held on the purpose built circuit for cycling, in line roller skating & wheelchair racing at Tudor Grange Park. The circuit is 1 kilometre long with plenty of hills & bends to make it demanding & interesting. In the First Under 10's race over 8 kilometres. Joshua was 5th & Bailey was 15th. In the 2nd race Joshua was 6th. Bailey didn't compete in this one as he was suffering from a soar throat.
A thunderstorm didn't deter eleven riders in the last evening event for this season over 5 miles. A strong ride by David Clarke still not fully recovered from his broken wrist was not enough to beat Plan B's Sean Sleigh who timed 12 03, Clarke timed 12 18, 3rd fastest was Daniel Partington ( Plan B ) in 13 01, The first Mercia HBM rider was Keith Staley in 4th place with a time of 13 18. The remaining Mercia HBM riders times were as follows: Mark Ward 15 04, Colin Johnson 15 30, Phil Knott, 16 08, Andrew Wendle 17 50, Peter Rose 17 55, & Dave Peters 19 39.
