Latest racing results of the Waters brothers. Simon Parker & Richard Knott compete in the Melton Mowbray Sportive
The second of Lichfield City Cycling Club’s Go Ride Youth Series held on the sprint circuit at Curborough saw the three Waters brothers competing. In the under ten years old 2 km road race Joshua was 6th & Bailey 7th. In the 2 km time trial Joshua & Bailey were again 6th & 7th. Both events were won by Leighton Sharman a member of the Liverpool Mercury Cycling Club.

In the under eight years old events over the same distances. Five years old Elliot was 7th in both events. The road race was won by Mathew Shaw ( Solihull CC ) & the time trial by Kieran Morris ( Mid Shropshire Wheelers )

Ivor James travelled down to Salford Priors near Alcester to ride in the Redditch Road & Path Cycling Club’s 10 mile time trial. Ivor timed 27 32 on a course noted for fast times, but unfortunately he was up against a strong cross wind. The fastest rider was Rob Lynne ( Climb on Bikes ) in 20 55. On the same day Gary Brown travelled in the opposite direction to compete in Sherwood Cycling Club’s 10 mile event at Long Bennington. Being an evening event the wind had dropped considerably to favour him with a time of 23 14. The winner was James Perkins ( Zenith CC ) in 19 50. Gary was 53rd out of an entry of 109 riders.

Simon Parker & Richard Knott both rode the 100km Melton Mowbray Sportive Event which went along mainly farm tracks in the Melton Mowbray, Oakham & Rutland Water area in three & half hours.

Fifteen riders competed in the evening 10mile time trial on the Anslow circuit on 17th June. There was a strong cross wind, making it hard riding up the hilly section to the Five Lanes Island. Sean Sleigh ( Plan B ) was the fastest in 24 03. Second was Daniel Partington also Plan B in 25 47. In 3rd place was Mercia HBM rider Keith Staley in 26 01. The rest of the riders times were Simon Parker 26 07, Phil Jones 27 11, Alec Taylor 27 35, Mark Ward 28 15,Mark Eccleston 28 53, Neil Sleigh ( Plan B ) 29 02, Colin Johnson 29 11, Adrian Waters 29 39, Andrew Windle 29 48, Phil Knott 31 19, Peter Rose 33 32 & Dave Peters at 1 lap 17 17.
