Mercia HBM Cycling Club’s second evening time trial & David Clarke finishes second in Welsh Road Race


Another cool evening saw sixteen riders in the second 5 mile time trial. David Clarke was the fastest by timing 11 min 52 seconds, reversing the positions of the previous week with Sean Sleigh ( Plan B ) finishing second in 12 16. The fastest Mercia HBM rider in 3rd place was Steve Plummer in 12 38, followed by Matt Simons in 4th place in 12 46. The rest of the finishing times were Steve Herriman( Plan B ) 12 47, Ray Yeomans ( Plan B )12 54, Noel Adams 12 57, Keith Staley 13 26, Gary Brown 13 32, Alex Taylor 14 32, Ann Staley ( Plan B ) 15 10, Adrian Waters 15 45, Phil Knott 16 21, Sue Herriman ( Plan B ) 16 47, Pete Rose 17 27 & Dave Peters 17 42.

Since riding the Premier Tour of The Reservoir Road Race held at Edmund Byers in County Durham where he came 25th in the 140km race won by Russell Downing ( Pinarello Racing Team ) David Clarke has had his best racing result this season when he finished second to Mathew Rowe ( Rapha Condor Recycling Team ) in the Betty Pharoah Memorial Race held Wick in the Vale of Glamorgan in South Wales.

Peter Rose aiming to complete the Midlands Veterans Echelon Cycles series of events in 2008, started by riding the first event held at Princethorpe, a 10 mile time trial in which he timed 32 min 32 seconds. The fastest time was done by James Perkins a member of Leicester’s Zenith Cycling Club in 20 38. Sean Sleigh & Kevin Potter ( Plan B ) won the tandem event in 21 20.
