The Mercia HBM Cycling Club celebrated it’s 2007 achievements at the annual dinner & prize presentation at the Albion Hotel. The guests of honour were the club’s sponsors Howard & Dawn Bond who presented the prizes. Peter Wain & his daughters Margaret & Sally presented the Sheila Wain Memorial cup, to the rider who finished first on handicap in the club’s championship 25 mile time trial. Also in attendance were Denise & Steven Farren to present the Tom Slater memorial picture in memory of their father & father-in-law respectively, the club’s former president & benefactor.

Gary Brown, Senior Road Race Champion, Fastest open 25 mile time trial & Most improved rider
Jeff Slinn First on handicap in Club Championship 25 mile time trial & second on handicap in the evening 10 mile time trials
Roger Owen Veterans Best All Rounder & second fastest in the Club Championship 100 mile time trial
Keith Staley Fastest Senior in the evening 10 mile time trials, Second fastest in the Club Championship 25 mile time trial & Third on handicap in the evening 10 mile time trials
Richard Knott Senior Hillclimb Champion, Anniversary Champion for joint best in the hillclimb & freewheeling competion & Senior Cyclo Cross Champion
Noel Adams Senior Best All Rounder, Fastest open 50 & 100 mile time trials. First in the Club Championship 100 mile time trial
Walley Pasley Clubman of the Year & First on handicap in evening roller racing.
Results
The Waters brothers completed their last two Notts & Derby Cyclo Cross League events in the under 10 yrs old category. In the penultimate one Joshua was 5th & Bailey 12th. In very muddy conditions at Allestree Park in Derby. The winner was William Gascoyne ( Heanor Clarion ) out of 26 who finished the race. The final event was held at Bulwell Park in Nottingham in much better conditions on a very technical course. Joshua was again 5th & Bailey 13th. Charlotte Broughton ( Leicester Off Road Club) won this one.
