Stone Wheelers 25 mile open time-trial
The last two open events have been 25 mile time-trials, which saw Mercia H.B.M riders competing in. The first was the Stone Wheelers event on the Blyth Bridge-Sudbury course, where Pete & Rob Beddows finished in second place in the Tandem event with a time of 54:46. The fastest team was Gary Kondor & Andy Plumb (Team Swift) in 52:04. In the solo event Keith Staley was only two seconds off getting under the hour in 1:00:01. The fastest solo rider was Andy Proffitt (Arctic-Shorter Rochford) in 52:19.
South Pennine R.C 25 mile open time-trial
The next 25 mile time-trial was promoted by the South Pennine R.C on the Etwall, Uttoxeter course. Pete & Rob Beddows were again second fastest in the Tandem event in 53:14. The winners this time were Team Swift riders Mark & Elizabeth Johnson in 52:19. Three Mercia H.B.M members rode this time in the solo event. Gary Brown was under the hour mark in 59:32, again Keith Staley was only three seconds off being under the hour in 1:00:02 & Nick Marriott timed 1:08:16. The winner was Matt Bottrill (De Rosa RT) in 50:13.
Merica H.B.M C.C evening time-trial
The latest 10 mile evening time-trial was held on the Yoxall, Constitution Island course. Visiting rider Stuart Duckworth (Lichfield City C.C) was the fastest rider in 24:17, followed by Christian Aucote (Plan B) in 24:39. The fastest Mercia H.B.M rider was Alex Taylor in 26:34. The following riders times were: Steve Herriman (Plan B) 26:42, Mark Eccleston 27:54, Jeff Lea 27:55, Phil Jones 28:20, Adrian Waters 29:49, Tony Marlow 30:42, Ken Goy 31:43, Dave Peters 33:09, Pete Rose 34:01, & Stan Crofts 35:58.
The previous weeks evening time-trial was a handicapped event over 10 miles on the Anslow circuit. The Mercia H.B.M times in handicap order were as follows: Simon Parker 21:51, Tony Caulton 21:53, Phil Jones 22:00, Nick Marriott 22:25, Keith Staley 22:36, Jeff Slinn 22:40, Alex Taylor 22:51, Gary Brown 22:53, Adrian Waters 22:58 & Mark Eccleston 24:44. The fastest rider was Sean Sleigh (Plan B) in 24:58.
