Mercia H.B.M C.C evening time-trial
Fourteen riders entered the latest 10 mile evening time-trial on the Anslow circuit. The fastest was track rider Sam Freeman now riding for Team KLS in 23:59. In second place was Louis Cowley (Plan B) 24:40 & in 3rd place was Kieran Frend (C.C. Giro) in 24:49. Keith Staley was the fastest Mercia H.B.M rider in 4th place timing 25:11. The rest of the times were Gary Brown 25:48, Phil. Jones 26:51, Simon Parker 27:17, Mark Eccleston 27:37, Jeff. Lea 28:03, James Franklin (Lichfield City) 29:38, Adrian Waters 30:08, Tony Marlow 31:16, Peter Rose 35:07, and at 1 lap Dave Peters 17:02.
Coventry C.C 10 mile open time-trial
Four Mercia H.B.M riders competed in Coventry Cycling Club’s 10 mile open time-trial (the Dianne Cooke memorial event) on the Princethorpe course in Warwickshire. In the Tandem event the Beddows brothers Peter & Robert timed 21:52 to finish in 3rd place. The winners were David Birch (Stourbridge C.C) & James Ratcliff (Wolverhampton R.C.C) in 20:07. In the solo event Keith Staley finished in 60th place out of 116 riders in a time of 24:18. Ivor James timed 26:30 for 90th place. The winning time of 20:41 was done by Richard Bradley (Arctic-Shorter Rochford).
Matlock C.C 10 mile open time-trial
Gary Brown chose to ride the following day’s Matlock Cycling Club’s 10 mile time-trial on the Rowsley Bakewell course timing 24:44 for 16th place out of 31 riders. The winner was Andrew Wolf (Nottingham Clarion) in 21:44.
