Mercia H.B.M C.C evening time-trial
Sean Sleigh (Plan B) was the fastest rider in the last 10 mile evening time-trial on the Anslow circuit with a time of 24:57. Mercia H.B.M rider Keith Staley was 2nd with 25:39, and in 3rd place was Gary Brown with 25:42. The other 11 riders times were Phil. Jones 27:04, Alex Taylor 27:05, Simon Parker 27:07, Mick Skivington (Plan B) 27:15, Paul Taylor 27:28, Ivor James 27:45, Mark Eccleston 28:42, Nick Marriott 29:59, Adrian Waters 30:20, and Peter Rose 34:55. At one lap Dave Peters 16:54.
David Clarke finishes 10th in Archer Grand Prix.
David Clarke finished 10th in the last Premiere League Road Race: The Archer R.C Grand Prix held at Hazelmere in Buckinghamshire, over 115 miles in the Chiltern Hills, on a very hot day for the time of year. Clarke missed the leading break, but he chased back in the last 13 miles to secure 10th place; 1 minute 40 seconds behind the winner Simon Gaywood (Plowman Craven Evan’s Cycles R.T) in 4 hours 46 minutes 08 seconds.
Keith Staley & Ivor James compete in 10 mile event at Six Hills.
The Central District Ladies Cycling Association 10 mile time-trial held on the A46 (Fosse Way) between Six Hills & Widmerpool attracted 94 riders. Among those competing were Keith Staley & Ivor James. Keith timed 24:19 & Ivor 26:40. The fastest time was done by Leicester rider James Perkins (Zenith C.C) in 20:51.
