Wally Pasley wins The Roller Racing Handicap Trophy & David Clarke’s First Racing Trip to Belgium in 2007.

The second evening time-trial attracted 14 riders on cold & windy night, to cover the 5 mile Anslow circuit. The fastest rider was Plan B’s track racing specialist Sam Freeman in 12:01, second fastest was Kieran Friend (C.C Giro) in 12:44 & in third place was Mercia H.B.M’s Gary Brown in 12:49. The other eleven riders times were: Keith Staley 12:59, Christian Aucote (Plan B) 13:03, Sean Sleigh (Plan B) 13:17, Mick Skivington (Plan B) 13:44, Alex. Taylor 13:58, Ivor James 14:07, Mark Eccleston 14:34, Phil Jones 14:55, Tony Pickance (Plan B) 15:01, Adrian Waters 16:30, and Peter Rose 18:09.

The final evening of Roller Racing at the clubroom on handicap was a ride off of the semi-finals & finals. In the semi-finals Peter Rose beat Keith Malcolm, and Wally Pasley beat Keith Staley. The final ride of over 500 meters was very close, with Wally Pasley beating Peter Rose by only 2 seconds.

Ivor James got his racing season off by timing 29:42 in round one of the Leicestershire time-trial series 10 mile event promoted by Coalville Wheelers in memory of Bridgett Bailey, on the hilly Griffydam Diseworth course. The winner was local rider Matt. Bottrill (De Rosa R.T) in 22:31.

David Clarke’s first visit to Belgium this year in March in very cold conditions saw him finish 10th in his first race over 120 km held at Neerlinter Heide with over 200 riders competing. In the space of 8 days he raced in six races with a best placing 8th in a race held at Wanzele again over 120 km.
